Smart Logistics through the Canals
Apparently 25% of Amsterdam canals are navigable waters. Yet, the canals are mostly used for leisure and tourism purposes. City Supplier is an initiative to reuse the canals to facilitate the city’s transport need. In partnership with local business and entrepreneurs’ associations, City Suppliers use their vessels to deliver goods and take waste via the canals. This initiative not only helps to reduce the number of trucks in the city but also improve the air quality in the area. City Supplier also engages with the people living in poverty by opening opportunities for employment as sailors to their ships. This project also commit to continuous innovation by combining the core competencies of the collaborating organisations.
